Party Wall damage can occur when your neighbour is carrying out works, usually by the Builder/Contractor. This is not intentional and is to no benefit to your neighbour, as they will be the ones having to put this damage right.
If damage has occurred to your property due to your neighbours works, there are two routes that can be taken to put this damage right. Whether you are using the same surveyor (Agreed Surveyor) or if you are using your own Surveyor, matters can be resolved. If you are using your own Surveyor then you would inform your Surveyor to get in touch with your neighbour’s Surveyor and in turn matters would be dealt with by the Surveyors.
If it is an Agreed Surveyor then the same process would occur.
You will be given two options to resolve the damage that has been caused.
First option would be to allow the Builder(s)/Contractor who carried out the works to your neighbours property to make right the damage that has been caused.
Second option would be to get a few quotes from a few contractors. Your neighbour will also get a few quotes. Once all fee quotes have been retrieved then an agreement will be reached as to which quote shall be used.
